Had an extremely stressful week, so I decided to reward myself with a slightly more luxurious lunch on Thursday 5 April. Went to Drips Bakery Cafe near my workplace. Ordered and took a seat at the back of the cafe, just like the first time I went there.
Glad to see they’ve gotten rid of the the ridiculous ‘all [sandwiches] served … with salad’ tagline, when their so-called salad was actually a halved cherry tomato and three thin slices of cucumber.
Ordered, paid and took a seat at the back of the cafe.
Had a ham and cheese sandwich ($13.80). Could choose between bread or croissant. Had been craving for a croissant so naturally I chose the latter. :)
The croissant itself tasted a bit flat, and wasn’t rich or buttery enough for me. But it was full of delicious ham and cheese. (I wonder if there is a more refined way of stuffing the filling into the croissant, though!)
I loved how they’ve slit open the tomato and drizzled some sort of vinaigrette on it. Such little details make the food look really artisan.
Portion seemed small but was pretty filling.
Then dessert! Had a raspberry tart ($7.50)!
The raspberries were tart and cut through the rich and sweet custard and crumbly crust.
Prices here have gone up, unfortunately, so this place has gotten a little pricey. But the food is fresh and the portions are reasonably large.
Complicated contraptions for brewing coffee!
I’ve got to try one of those baked tarts (middle row) the next time!
