chicken chop

Colleague Daphne and I took the afternoon off yesterday to get something done, but decided to look for food first. As we were somewhere in Kovan, we ended up at Xin Wang Hong Kong Cafe in Heartland Mall. This was my first time dining at Xin Wang!

Drinks! My yuanyang (left, $3.20) and Daphne’s lychee ice blended ($5.20). My drink was rich and sweet enough, but tasted more of coffee than tea. (I prefer tea!)

Daphne’s mui fan with fish slices, topped with pork floss ($9.50). I asked her if the pork floss added to the flavour of the dish, and she said it did. :)

There were so many items on their menu that I didn’t know what to order at first. In the end, I settled on one of their recommended dishes, black pepper chicken chop ($8.80). The chicken chop was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, but thought it was a little on the small side. The fries were not crispy and were a little hard. Would have preferred more vegetables as well. In all, a good but not great dish.

After eating, Daphne wanted to take her medicine, but had no water. And Xin Wang charges $0.40 for a glass of warm or cold water! Not sure if it’s free flow, but still……
