The top mathematics undergraduate at Cambridge University is known as the Senior Wrangler, a position which is considered ‘the greatest intellectual achievement attainable in Britain’. Singapore’s current prime minister Lee Hsien Loong was Senior Wrangler in 1973!

Vigesimal describes something related to or based on the number 20.
The cube of 3 is 27, of course…… :D
Pistachio Symphony cake from The Patissier – pricey but worth every cent!!!
In the run up to my impending birthday…… one last hurrah before I turn 26 next Tuesday!!!
Anyway, a Pythagorean triple consists of three positive integers a, b, and c, such that a2 + b2 = c2. And it so happens that 3, 4 and 5 make up the smallest Pythagorean triple. (3, 4 and 5 are also consecutive positive integers!) Check out other examples here!
Here’s another amazing mathematician…… Srinivasa Ramanujan (1887 – 1920)! He was an Indian mathematician and autodidact ‘who, with almost no formal training in pure mathematics, made extraordinary contributions to mathematical analysis, number theory, infinite series, and continued fractions’. Read about Hungarian mathematician Paul Erdos (1913 – 1996) today. Working with hundreds of collaborators, he published more papers than any other mathematician in history. And he was also known for his ‘legendarily eccentric’ personality. Click here to find out a little more about him!
A cute poem which was used as lines in the movie Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay!
The Square Root of 3
I’m sure that I will always be
A lonely number like root three
The three is all that’s good and right,
Why must my three keep out of sight
Beneath the vicious square root sign,
I wish instead I were a nine
For nine could thwart this evil trick,
with just some quick arithmetic
I know I’ll never see the sun, as 1.7321
Such is my reality, a sad irrationality
When hark! What is this I see,
Another square root of a three
As quietly co-waltzing by,
Together now we multiply
To form a number we prefer,
Rejoicing as an integer
We break free from our mortal bonds
With the wave of magic wands
Our square root signs become unglued
Your love for me has been renewed
